About this event

Preparing for end of life can be an incredibly challenging concept. There are a number of decisions to consider, questions to ask, and difficult conversations to have, but by pre-planning our end-of-life intentions we can help alleviate the stress for our loved ones.

With the help of Lakewood’s Director of Family Services, Kelly Leahy, we will walk through some options and considerations for end-of-life planning, and make sense of these difficult topics so you can understand what might be best for you. We’ll touch on burial options including casket vs. cremation, the steps to take for making end-of-life arrangements, and other important things to consider as you start planning.

There will be a brief presentation, followed by an opportunity for questions and answers related to this topic.

Your Instructor

As the Director of Family Services, Kelly Leahy leads a team of advisors that help families choose how to be remembered at Lakewood. Her passion for helping families navigate the end-of-life process led her to a degree in mortuary science from the University of Minnesota, after earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. She served as a licensed mortician and funeral director for almost 12 years before joining Lakewood in 2015 as a Family Services advisor. In 2019, she accepted a new role as the Director of Family Services where she’s responsible for leading Lakewood’s Family Services team, which provides end-of-life memorialization, planning and care to families.
