We hope to bring our Earth Day Celebration event back next spring! Until then, watch this video for a brief history and tour of the greenhouses, and learn more about Lakewood's landscape in our blog.

About our Earth Day event

Lakewood is a unique green space in the heart of Minneapolis — with 250 acres of ornate gardens, scenic vistas and endless knolls dotted with old-growth trees — all open to the public for visiting.

We invite you to explore our spacious grounds on Sunday, April 19 for our 4th annual Earth Day Celebration. While here, take a behind-the-scenes tour of our historic greenhouses, where you'll learn about Lakewood's horticultural history, sustainable practices and see what we have in store for this spring's flower beds. After the tour, put your own green thumb to work and plant a perennial to take home in memory of a loved one.

Advance tickets for the greenhouse tours are $10 (plus tax and service fees). Tours will be offered every half hour from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.

You are welcome to explore the grounds the entire day — our gates are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Take a self-guided tour of the cemetery before or after your greenhouse tour. Self-guided brochures will be available for free at the event or you can download the Lakewood mobile app.

ADA accessibility: We are sorry, but due to the historic construction of the greenhouses, we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers for this tour. You are welcome to explore the grounds with a self-guided tour booklet or see other upcoming events for ADA-friendly opportunities.
