Whether you are a lifelong fan of classical music or a new listener, we invite you to enjoy chamber music from the Mill City String Quartet in the intimate and beautiful Lakewood Memorial Chapel.

About the Mill City String Quartet

Heard on MPR and seen at the Baroque Room and the Schubert Club, among others, Mill City String Quartet seeks to create exciting and diverse concerts for listeners both familiar and new to chamber music. In addition to their season of public concerts, they frequently work with students across Minnesota and have premiered several new or lesser-known chamber music works.

Doors open at 2 p.m.

When you arrive, check in at the welcome table in the Chapel foyer. All tickets are will call. Seating is general admission.

Arrive early and take a self-guided tour of the Lakewood Chapel before the concert. Free tour brochures will be available.

Parking

The Chapel is located a short distance from our main entrance at 36th Street & Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. Proceed straight ahead after you enter the front gates and look for the building with the red roof. Signage will point the way.

Parking is available along roads near the building, including reserved spaces for handicap parking.

The Lakewood Chapel — one of our city’s most beloved architectural treasures — is an intimate setting that seats about 160 people. Because of its incredible beauty and historical significance, it is a popular place for weddings,

Dedicated in 1910, the Chapel was modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul by prominent Minneapolis architect Harry Wild Jones. Its 10-million piece mosaic interior, created by New York designer Charles Lamb, features a 40-foot high dome ringed with stained glass windows and 12 mosaic angels. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Chapel is one of the finest examples of Byzantine mosaic architecture in the country. Learn more about the Lakewood Chapel.
