Summer evenings are a wonderful time to stroll through Lakewood and take in its beautiful gardens, spacious grounds and long vistas — all while learning a bit of fun, local history!

This summer's tour schedule includes three tour options: Lakewood Founders, Art & Architecture at Lakewood, and Notable Women. All tours take place on Tuesday evenings. Tour tickets cost $5 in advance, $10 at the door. See below for specific dates, times and how to get tickets.

Lakewood Founders walking tour

July 23, 2019, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Learn about early Minneapolis leaders who helped build not only the city itself but the city’s grand cemetery—Lakewood. This tour features Minneapolis’ first mayor Dorilus Morrison, Senator and businessman William D. Washburn, Park Board President Charles Loring and more.

Notable Women walking tour

August 6, 2019, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Celebrate the women who influenced Minneapolis from its earliest days to modern times. This tour features 19th-century women’s healthcare advocate Harriet Walker, suffragist Clara Ueland, salon entrepreneur Myndall Cain, and many more.

Art & Architecture walking tour

August 20, 2019, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

See beautiful art and architecture at Lakewood, including the historic Byzantine Revival style Memorial Chapel with mosaic interior, the contemporary Garden Mausoleum, and monument art and symbolism found in the cemetery’s oldest sections.
